I don't understand all the hate for this little Chinese restaurant. Things haven't seemed to change since 2009 when it was noted that they don't run the heat in the winter, but we were only getting take out so that wasn't a concern.
Additionally, some of the reviews below have compared this to another Tiogue Avenue restaurant which was closed down due to health code violations, so it looks like China Star can't be that bad.
I mean, that's what Chinese food usually comes down to. There are very few places that make good Chinese food, and a ton of places that make okay Chinese food. Dragon Palace makes pretty good Chinese food, but all of their options are priced for someone who is eating in the restaurant. If you're looking for take out prices, reasonable food, and this is the closest Chinese restaurant to your house, then China Star is the place for you. -

Shrimp with broccoli and 2 spring rolls. Rice had black spots and rolls were disgusting.

Stopped in for dinner tonight and ate in. Biggest serving of hot and sour soup I've ever seen and I even enjoyed it - and I am not a fan. Husband also had the beef with pea pods which was light and fresh and flavorful. I had wonton soup and the broth was so rich and wonderful with five big wontons. The Kung pao shrimp was huge and flavorful and filling and perfectly done. Rice was the perfect Chinese white steamed rice. We will absolutely be back again and again it's our new go to Chinese place in the area.

Have been ordering here for 10 years plus. service is a little iffy, but the language barrier would be the reason, food has never done me wrong wish they would not have delivery minimum of $20 but that's just wishful thinking.

it always seems Chinese food is hit or miss. this place is a definite miss. my order was 4 beef teriyaki sticks an order of steamed dumplings and a dinner special of beef and broccoli with veggie fried rice. 23$ for this and i really don't think it was worth it. first, the owner forgot part of my order and the delivery guy had to come back to the house. then the beef teriyaki sticks were very undercooked and looked like they had been thrown in the microwave. I had to go and cook them further and add the teriyaki because it had no flavor at all. the dumplings were cold and mostly dough I also had to reheat them. the beef and broccoli were disappointing as well. so much fat and gristle at once serving and to add insult to injury it seems it was steamed broccoli with somewhat cooked beef thrown on top with sauce drizzled on top. you can tell when a chef has no heart in what they are cooking and this guy is a shining example. don't eat here go to a better place one that is a sit-down and just take it to go. or hibachi buffet in Warwick next to Target, that place is ok. these cheap small-time Chinese places may be convenient but they are much to expensive for low quality food and will most likely get you sick.
